VISA AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FEES
The applicant must apply for the tourist visa through registered travel agent. Unlike other countries it cannot be done online privately. Prior to issuance of visa, you must make the full payment along with visa fee USD40 to your travel agent which will be further credited into the account of Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB). Without full payment, TCB won’t approve visa. Bhutan tourist visa is 100% guaranteed if your passport has more than 6 months validity and you have made the necessary payment as required.
Tourism Council of Bhutan has done away with old daily tariff USD250 per person, recently. Now tourist must pay sustain development fee USD200 per night per person. This fee directly goes to government’s coffin as tax. And you must pay for your accommodation, guide, transportation and other expenses separately.
There is no charges for your late arrival. However, if you want to extend your visa when you are in Bhutan, Bhutanese currency 1000 will be charged and you have to pay SDF for extra days.
